Animal Crossing: City Folk is an excellent choice for anyone who wishes to purchase a game for the entire family. Controls and game play are simple yet addictive for even the youngest of players. However, earning enough bells for the first rent payment seems to be a problem shared by many beginners.
In Animal Crossing for Nintendo Wii, you control a character that moves into a town full of animals as neighbors. After completing some tasks for Tom Nook, a shopkeeper, he will give you a small house to live in. With the items that you collect or buy, you can decorate your new home how you see fit. Tom Nook, the greedy merchant that he is, didn’t give you this house for free.
In City Folk, you pay the mortgage for your home at any time you wish. To coax you into paying quickly, Tom Nook will give you a home upgrade with each payment until you’re done paying for your home. Your first payment is a whopping 19,500 bells.
So, how can you earn these so-called bells? By fishing, growing trees, and capturing bugs, of course!
Fish and Bugs
Depending on the season, you will be able to catch different types of fish and bugs with a fishing pole or net. The more rare or difficult the catch is, the more it’ll be worth. You can even catch a Tarantula during the summer and fall if you put your mind to it!
Fruit Trees
On your first visit to town, you should see three fruits hanging on certain trees. This fruit can be apples, oranges, peaches, pears, or cherries. If you shake the fruits off the trees, you can sell each piece of fruit for 100 bells. You only need to gather 195 pieces of fruit for your first rent payment!
Selling for Cash
Once you have some fish, bugs, and fruit to sell, all you need to do now is pay a visit to Tom Nook. As a shopkeeper, he also needs to purchase wares if he wants an inventory. For each item you offer, he will give you a fixed price. From there, you can either keep the item or sell it.
Your first payment shouldn’t be too hard to reach, but the next one will be even harder. And if you think reaching that payment is hard, just wait until you have to pay 500,000 bells for your last house upgrade.
Animal Crossing: City Folk is addicting simply because of all the things that you can do. Adults and kids alike feel delighted when they accomplish seemingly impossible goals such as getting the final house upgrade. Luckily, you will accomplish these goals quicker than you can believe if you enjoy fishing, catching bugs, and collecting fruit.
